FWCC ‘Living the Change’
A project involves spiritual institutions to champion sustainable living
Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) has joined a new project involving a global community of religious and spiritual institutions to champion sustainable living.
The ‘Living the Change’ initiative includes Buddhist, Catholic, Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim networks and was officially joined by Quakers in July.
It was initiated at the UN Climate Conference in 2017 by the US-based multi-faith organisation GreenFaith.
Susanna Mattingly, sustainability communications officer of FWCC, told the Friend: ‘Living the Change is a great opportunity for those of us who need to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and can make changes in some of these high-impact areas: transportation, home energy use, and diet.
‘We are advocating a flexible and thoughtful approach. We need to keep asking ourselves whether we can do things more sustainably and take incremental steps towards a more sustainable life.’
