French Quakers to hold peace witness at arms fair

by Ian Kirk-Smith 18th April 2014

French Quakers will again be holding a peace witness at the Eurosatory arms fair on the outskirts of Paris this June.  The fair, held this year between 16 and 20 June, is the ‘second largest international land and air-land defence and security exhibition’ in the world. In 2012 some 1,432 companies exhibited and there were 53,480 visitors from 130 countries.

French Friends will be protesting alongside groups such as Movement International de Reconciliation (MIR), the Mennonites, Pax Christ and the Franciscans. They will be joined by Quakers from other European countries at a ‘silent witness’ held outside the entrance to the exhibition halls.
