Seventeen students from five Quaker schools attended the annual Friends Schools Gathering at the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham.

Year twelve representatives of Bootham, The Mount, Sibford, Walden and Newtown (Waterford, Ireland) schools spent 19-21 June at Woodbrooke. The students, most of whom are expected to be prefects, head boys or head girls in the next academic year, learned about Quaker history and the Quaker decision-making process.

This year’s programme included a walking tour of ‘Quaker Bournville’ and sessions on working together and leadership within the context of Quakerism.

Connar O’Keeffe, of Woodbrooke, said that the students left with ideas of things to do in their schools, such as holding Meetings for Clearness or thinking of ways to use the Quaker business method in school meetings.
