Relief efforts in Nepal have been reported

The Friends Peace Team (FPT) Asia West Pacific (AWP) has published a report on its relief efforts following the massive earthquake in Nepal in April.

More than 9,000 people were killed in the 25 April earthquake. Several hundred thousand people were also injured, displaced or lost their homes.

Friends Peace Teams-AWP collected and channelled funds to the relief coordinator in Nepal, a local discernment team visited the disaster-hit areas to plan relief efforts to address real situations, and an international discernment team listened and offered feedback.FPT provided 8,340 kilo-grammes of rice for 696 families; 800 bundles of corrugated zinc sheets to provide 800 families with roofing; and 208 relief packages for pregnant women and new mothers.

Friends also conducted three Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) basic, trauma healing and psychosocial wellbeing workshops for social workers from the earthquake-affected areas.
