Members and supporters of Quaker Concern for Animals (QCA) joined thousands of vegans as part of a global campaign for animal rights on Saturday 2 September.

An estimated 5,000 people from all over Britain marched through central London calling for an end to animal cruelty.

Protestors also encouraged bystanders to adopt a completely plant-based diet.

Now in its second year, the ‘Official Animal Rights March’ was coordinated by three animal activist organisations: Surge, The Save Movement and the HeartCure Collective.

Emily Playford-Gould, a QCA member, said: ‘I aim to live the Quaker testimonies as best I can in my life.

‘The Animal Rights March was full of people fighting for the rights of the voiceless, and spreading messages of peace, love, equality and truth. It was an incredible environment to be in.’

There are 542,000 people in the UK currently maintaining a plant-based lifestyle on compassionate, environmental and personal health grounds, according to Vegan Society estimates.
