Almost 500 Quakers from across Britain are already booked to attend the extra Yearly Meeting (YM) session on 1 July, online and in person, at Friends House.

Friends will discuss membership statistics from across Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM), as shown in the Tabular Statement.

2023’s main YM sessions, held at the end of April, introduced ideas for new simple, sustainable and inclusive Quaker structures. Those attending on 1 July will explore those ideas further to offer guidance to those taking the work forward.

The annual report and accounts will not be presented for approval as hoped, as they are not yet ready. Trustees will still be reporting to Friends at YM and taking questions.

BYM said that the auditors are clear that there is no underlying problem with BYM’s finances and expressed no concern about wrongdoing.

Paul Parker, recording clerk, said: ‘Trustees and Management Meeting have recognised that we could and should have moved sooner to put in place sufficient resources to produce the accounts this year.’

Alongside these business sessions, a full children and teenagers’ programme will run in Friends House with a theme of community and belonging.

Papers for the final session of Yearly Meeting 2023, combined with Meeting for Sufferings on 1 July, are available on the Quakers in Britain website.
