Central England Quakers (CEQ) wrapped more than 1,000 Christmas parcels this month for people in need.

The parcels provide food for those known to the Probation Service to be in great need and also some asylum seekers and refugees through Quaker-supported charities.

Tricia Bradbury, clerk to CEQ Christmas Parcels Committee, told the Friend that, ‘with prices rising, as well acute problems with accommodation, many are suffering and we will be pleased to support the Probation Services, plus other agencies working with these vulnerable people’.

CEQ’s Christmas parcels scheme has been running for over sixty years. ‘Over the years we have built up a unique relationship with the Probation Services in the Midlands and last year were presented with a beautiful garden bench (made by prisoners) in recognition of our work together.’
