FWCC general secretary speaks at Mennonite World Conference

by Tara Craig 7th August 2015

Gretchen Castle, general secretary of the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC), offered ecumenical greetings at the recent Mennonite World Conference global assembly in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Gretchen told some 8,000 Anabaptists: ‘Grounded in faith, I am committed to the integration of faith and service, where love is the first motion. I am committed to working toward unity, within the Quaker communion, among our Christian brothers and sisters, and within the human family. Today I am most grateful that as Quakers and Mennonites, we share this pilgrimage.’

She told the Friend that she would ‘continue to work with Mennonites and Brethren at the world level, exploring ways to celebrate our work together as “Historic Peace Churches”’.

Mennonite World Conference is an international community of Anabaptist-related churches. Its global assemblies take place every six years.
