French authorities must provide basic amenities to refugees in Calais in the future.

Help Refugees has welcomed a ruling by France’s supreme court rejecting an appeal by the French authorities and reinstating the state’s obligation to install water points, toilets and showers for between 600 and 700 refugees who remain in Calais.

Authorities are also required to provide daily outreach for minors and to facilitate departures to accommodation centres.
