Florence Meeting celebrates first birthday

Quakers in Florence are celebrating their first anniversary this month

Quakers in Florence celebrated their first birthday this month, at the same time as a local magazine published a feature about them.

As the six Friends who regularly make up the Meeting gathered in silence on 9 February, an article in the English language magazine The Florentine was being shared on Facebook describing their origins and the history of Quakers in Italy.

Kirsten Hills, who grew up as an attender in Canterbury Meeting, told the Friend that the Meeting has had one joint gathering with Bologna Quakers and is planning another in March. She set up the Meeting after ‘craving’ the ‘silence, peace and headspace’.
