The last surviving female member of the Friends Ambulance Unit (FAU) has died at the age of ninety-five.

Angela Sinclair-Loutit was the first woman to join the FAU, having given up her history studies at Somerville College, Oxford, as she ‘wanted to do something’ and train as a nurse.

She served first at the FAU headquarters in Gordon Square, London, and later with teams helping refugees in Egypt, Italy and the former Yugoslavia. Jeremy Corbyn said on her recent death that she ‘was a friend to all who want peace and justice and to live in a caring community’. For some years she regularly attended Coventry Meeting.
