Andrew Backhouse, from East Cheshire Area Meeting (AM), recently reached out to share what’s been happening locally to bring community together.
He writes: ‘Did you talk to lots of older or younger folk this Christmas season? Relatives? Or people not known to you?
‘I think it is the sign of a good community when we can work with a range of ages, have fun together, and hopefully deepen our lives together for the better.
‘East Cheshire AM have tried to do something for many years around New Year, with all-age Meeting, food, games, and for many years, a pantomime trip.
‘Stockport Meeting House provides an excellent venue and welcome.
‘It certainly brings in many families with children when the tickets are free!
‘Most recently we had a good climbing session with ten-to-seventeen-year-olds after a bowling session last year.
‘It’s a great way of keeping a group in touch, drawing in new younger people, making sure the older adults still meet young folk, and really exciting to watch, even if the snow prevented some from joining us.’
Andrew asks: ‘What are you doing for your all age community, to draw in those families who are on the fringes?’
