The history of the peace movement is the subject of an exhibition at the London School of Economics (LSE).

‘Giving Peace a Chance: from the League of Nations to Greenham Common’ explores how world peace was sought in the twentieth century, with pieces taken from the collections of LSE Library and the Women’s Library.

The exhibition, which is on until 17 April at the LSE Library, showcases the work of international organisations such as the League of Nations and the Women’s International League of Peace and Freedom, as well as items related to peace activists such as Pat Arrowsmith, co-founder of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

There is also material from the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp, which was set up in the 1980s to protest against the siting of cruise missiles at the air force base in Berkshire.
