Episcopalians help Friends in Brora

A recently established worshipping group has had support from a local minister

A Quaker worshipping group established last year in Brora, in the Scottish Highlands, is growing thanks in part to the help and involvement of the local Episcopalian community.

The group was invited to hold a Meeting at the Episcopalian church by its minister, who worships with them. Friends travel from Caithness (forty-one miles away), from Inverness (fifty-seven miles away and home to the nearest Local Meeting) and some from further afield. Two local Episcopalians join these Friends.

Phyllida Sayles, clerk of North Scotland Area Meeting, told the Friend that the new group remains ‘very fragile’ but that she hopes it continues to grow. Phyllida explained that the group was made possible because the Episcopalian community had provided a Meeting space free of charge.
