Campaign launched at Aldermaston

by The Friend Newsdesk 15th March 2013

A campaign to draw attention to the nuclear bombs that are researched and built at Aldermaston has just been launched.  A mass demonstration is planned for Easter Monday, 1 April, between 12 noon and 2pm, to protest against Britain’s Trident nuclear weapons system.

Action AWE (Atomic Weapons Eradication) is a grassroots campaign of nonviolent actions dedicated to halting nuclear weapons production at the Atomic Weapons Establishment factories at Aldermaston and Burghfield.

The purpose is for groups and individuals to undertake autonomous actions and events from February 2013 onwards to raise awareness of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons.
