The Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) hosted a webinar last month for Quakers to learn more about a video in which Friends share their personal stories on environmental justice, earthcare and stewardship.

The ‘Quakers Coming Together to Care for the Earth’ webinar on 29 July brought together Friends to discuss the issues raised in the video of the same name. Two members of the group also spoke: Adrian Halverstadt, director of Evangelical Friends Church – North America, and Lindsey Fielder Cook, representative for climate change at the Quaker United Nations Office.

Lee Taylor, from Milton Keynes Meeting and member of FWCC Europe and Middle East Section executive committee, said that the video was the result of several video conference calls and one face-to-face meeting in 2018, in which Friends discussed ‘what we as Quakers are called to do about the interlocking ecological issues affecting all of creation’. She said participants of the group included ‘Friends across the Quaker spectrum including those affiliated with FWCC, Evangelical Friends of North America, Friends United Meeting, Friends General Conference, and other unaffiliated Friends’ who went on to work with FWCC to produce the short video. The webinar was also recorded.
