Dundee Meeting to go ‘back home’
Friends in Dundee will return to their 150-year-old Meeting house
Dundee Meeting has decided to return to its five-storey Meeting house after a two and a half year process of discernment.
Pamala McDougall, clerk of Dundee Meeting, told the Friend that the decision was prompted when the property solicitors renting the ground floor announced they were changing location.
She said: ‘The main reason we had to move was because of the inaccessibility of the Meeting room on the first floor. We moved to a nearby office but the office space became unavailable, so now the Meeting is in a steeple house in Dundee.’
She continued: ‘I’m excited that we are going back home. We’ve been on a long Spirit-led path of discernment. We hope to return by the end of the year. It will cost about £150,000 to renovate, which includes installing a lift. I am convening a small group of fundraisers to raise our shortfall of £50,000 in the next year.’
The 150-year-old Meeting house is in the centre of Dundee.
