Quaker Tapestry temporarily moved to The Elephant Yard

by The Friend Newsdesk 29th March 2013

The Quaker Tapestry moved to its temporary home in The Elephant Yard, Kendal, on Monday, 25 March.  The Quaker attraction was forced to leave its usual location while urgent building repairs are carried out (see ‘Tapestry moved to temporary home’, 15 March). The Elephant Yard in Kendal stepped into the breach and offered a local shop as an exhibition space.

General manager Bridget Guest explained that the shop is ‘large enough to hold fifteen of the seventy-seven panels and our travelling shop. We are very excited about welcoming our first visitors.’ She added: ‘The exhibition is free and we are hopeful that people will spend money in the shop or give to the fundraising appeal.’

Peter Boyd, who manages The Elephant Yard, said: ‘It’s great that we can support another local community charity in this way and we are very glad to be hosting this exhibition for the next six weeks.’
