Friends in Wales develop digital stories for DVD

by The Friend Newsdesk 10th January 2014

Friends throughout Wales are responding to a concern that the Quaker voice should be clearly heard among the many activities to commemorate the centenary of the first world war.

South Wales Area Meeting’s Digital Voices project is working with Breaking Barriers Community Arts to make a collection of three-minute digital stories for a DVD. It will be sent to every school and college in Wales with notes to assist teachers in the use of the materials. In each story a Friend tells their personal experience of a conscientious objector, illustrated with old photographs.

As well as the DVDs, the stories will also be uploaded to YouTube for access by the general public. The project is being supported by every Area Meeting in Wales, Meeting of Friends in Wales, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, Cynefin y Werin and individual Friends.
