Development and discussion for children
Children's Meetings were the focus of a recent event at Edgbaston Meeting House
Seven Friends gathered at Edgbaston Meeting House last month to share and develop ways of engaging better at Children’s Meetings.
The training day ‘Building Relationships in Children’s Meeting: nurture and discipline’ was held on 21 April and was organised by Central England Quakers and the Quaker Life Children and Young People’s Team.
Cathy Khurana, from Edgbaston Meeting, told the Friend: ‘It was an excellent day. The programme included discovering and recognising the skills we bring to work with children and young people, and considering what makes Children’s Meeting distinctively Quaker.’
Last month the Children’s Meeting at Penzance Meeting was held on the beach. The children discussed the problems of single-use plastic and demonstrated to the adult Meeting how plastic bags can look like a tasty jellyfish to marine life.
The meeting follows Penzance Quakers’ continued witness to sustainability. Local Friend Alison Meaton told the Friend: ‘Cornwall is really leading the way in getting rid of unnecessary plastic nowadays, and, certainly, single-use plastic.’
