Coping with conflict and anger in Uganda

The anger workshops arose from a request from Grace Kiconco Sirrah, my colleague from previous visits to Uganda in 1999 and 2002. She had been working with victims of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) war (1988-2004), running ‘Healing of Memories’ workshops. So much anger was expressed in those workshops that Grace and her colleagues felt some direct work on anger should be done. Grace knew of my work on anger management using art and contacted me to see if I could come. My Meeting and a small charity in London provided the funds (£4,930) for a month-long visit in Uganda. This money provided three-day workshops for communities in Northern Uganda and a five-day mediation training for people in helping roles.
