Last summer I had a remarkable experience. A chance conversation between friends led three PhD students – on the HighWire doctoral programme in Digital Innovation at Lancaster University – to a shared exploration over four months with me. They were interested in Quakers, in our values and processes, our constantly evolving tradition and whether these might offer new creative approaches to processes of innovation. I had been exploring ways of sharing experiences of spiritual connection with ‘nonreligious’ people, drawing on Quaker processes. We started a dialogue that became unexpectedly transformative for us all.
