Kingston Meeting is hosting a small exhibition of artworks related to peace and white poppies.

Linda Murgatroyd, who is involved in the initiative, said: ‘In this centenary year the Collateral Damage project is inviting people to commemorate… victims of war by making a unique white poppy out of some kind of textile. As we create, wear and display our poppies we hope to reflect how we can build a more peaceful future together.’

The first group of poppies was made at Yearly Meeting Gathering 2017 held at the University of Warwick at Coventry.

Linda Murgatroyd invited Friends who are interested in taking part to ‘send poppies for the Centenary exhibition, by 15 October 2018, to: Collateral Damage White Poppies c/o QPSW, Friends House [in London].’

She added: ‘Part of the original installation currently forms part of a small exhibition of artworks which is travelling to different venues in the run-up to the centenary.  Its first stop was Westminster Meeting and it is now at Kingston Quaker Centre until late April.

‘Details of planned exhibitions will be posted on Facebook@whitepoppies2018 and the events page at quakerarts.net’
