John Sweeney spoke to Irish Friends at a recent meeting

There are approximately two decades left to achieve the large-scale decarbonisation necessary to avoid dangerous climate change, Irish Friends were told recently in Cork by a leading researcher on climate change.

John Sweeney, emeritus professor of the National University of Ireland Maynooth, spoke to an audience of thirty-five people in Cork Meeting House on 28 February on the theme Climate change affects us all – the clock is ticking. He highlighted that human-activity-related changes in climate and weather patterns – such as the increase in frequency and intensity of storms, changes in rainfall patterns, melting of glaciers and ice sheets and measurable rises in sea level – have already been seen.

The talk was sponsored by EcoQuakers Ireland.
