Changes to the Quaker Marriage Declaration was next on the agenda. Following an agreement in December 2023 to allow different pronouns in the declaration, Friends now received draft amendments from the Church Government Advisory Group for Chapter 16 in Quaker faith & practice: 16.52 (in English) and 16.53 (in Welsh). The changes proposed that the Welsh text used ‘ffrind’ (friend) – an ungendered noun – instead of ‘cyfaill’ (male friend) or ‘cyfeilles’ (female friend). This followed consultation with Crynwyr Cymru/Quakers in Wales.

Friends agreed to the changes in the minute, noting that the wider consultation is still with Area Meetings, to return to MfS in October of this year.
