The Clonard Reconciliation Mission joined South Belfast Friends for a Meeting for Worship on Sunday 1 June.  The group, from West Belfast’s Clonard Monastery, are known as the Unity Pilgrims and worship with a different religious congregation each Sunday. This was their second visit to South Belfast Meeting.

Unity Pilgrims coordinator Ed Petersen told the Friend: ‘We believe that in order to love one another we must first meet one another, and the best way to do this is on a Sunday morning, where we meet an entire congregation and share in their main act of worship for the week.

‘We see our Quaker brothers and sisters as peace pilgrims, with whom we share so much in common,’ he said. ‘The gentle power of listening together opens up new possibilities in how we can best serve those in most need.’

Friends appreciated the visit, including the opportunity to chat to the Unity Pilgrims.

‘We talked about the importance of silence, contemplation and listening,’ one said.

‘I was glad to know they were coming and then glad of their presence in the Meeting,’ another added.
