Positive developments in an Oxfordshire campaign

by Tara Craig 27th February 2015

The Friend reported on 21 November 2014 that Oxford Quakers were among more than twenty local organisations opposing the proposed expansion of Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre.

There has been a well organised campaign to stop the expansion, Bridget Walker, of the Quaker Asylum and Refugee Network (QARN), told the Friend. Refugee Council chief executive officer Maurice Wren spoke at the planning committee meeting on Thursday 19 February.

‘I am happy to report that Cherwell District Council decided to defer a decision on the proposal. This is a positive development,’ Bridget said.
