BYM backs Oxfam ‘inequality report’
Britain Yearly Meeting has backed a new report by Oxfam
Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) has called for the ‘inequality gap’ to end, following a report by Oxfam which shows that the gap between the richest and the poorest has widened.
BYM tweeted: ‘Last year, eighty-two per cent of wealth created worldwide went to the top one per cent. The poorest half saw no increase at all. Such inequality must end. We will continue to challenge it and address its damaging effects.’
According to Oxfam’s report, forty-two people hold as much wealth as the 3.7 billion who make up the poorest half of the world’s population.
