Bruce Kent campaigns against Trident at Darlington FMH
Bruce Kent spoke at Darlington Friends Meeting House on 23 April
Bruce Kent, the veteran campaigner for peace and social justice issues, spoke at Darlington Friends Meeting House (FMH) on 23 April. It was part of his national speaking tour seeking to galvanise people to oppose spending £100 billion on renewing the Trident nuclear submarine programme.
He asked all people of faith to enlist others to campaign, by writing to the local and national press, MPs, challenging local councillors, engaging development agencies and using any other opportunity to press the case against spending this money in this way. He pointed out the case is not just an economic one, but a moral one.
He reminded his listeners of previous and current campaigns where even a small number of very determined people can achieve much. More than sixty people attended his meeting, and many left with a determination to respond to his appeal.
