Breaking down barriers was on the agenda at Bournville Meeting recently – literally – when a car crashed through the gates and front doors of the Meeting house.

The VW Polo crashed through the front gate on Linden Road, up the path and through the front door on 18 October before stopping in the room.

No one was seriously hurt.

West Midlands Fire Service tweeted: ‘Two fire engines and ten firefighters responded. It’s thought the driver’s foot slipped and she pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.’

There was no damage to the building.
