Bradford Quakers fly the flag for Anti-Nuclear Ban
Friends in Bradford have welcomed a move by South Africa
Bradford Friends celebrated the news that South Africa has ratified the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
South Africa joined twenty-one states in signing the Treaty that was adopted after 122 states voted in favour of it at the UN on 7 July, 2017. The UK is not one of them. International relations and cooperation minister Lindiwe Sisulu said South Africa’s ratification sends a ‘positive signal of our continued commitment towards the achievement of a world free from the threat posed by nuclear weapons’.
