Bath Friends mark Windrush Day
The second Windrush Day has been marked by Friends in Bath
Bath Friends were among those who supported the second Windrush Day event in Bath this month.
The event on 23 June was organised by Christ Church Julian Road, with Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens Association (BEMSCA) and Fairfield House. It included what Bath Friends described as ‘thoughtful commemoration, the legendary Rainbow Steel Band and [a] fabulous Caribbean barbeque’.
William Heath, member of Bath Meeting, who attended the event, told the Friend: ‘It is important to make it clear that Bath welcomes refugees and to celebrate what the Caribbean community has given to our society and at a time when the state is acting in such an unpleasant manner.’
