Bath 2014
Yearly Meeting Gathering 2014 will be held in Bath
Images of refreshment and renewal, prompted by a reference to the famous Roman baths, were raised in a short presentation promoting the 2014 Yearly Meeting Gathering of Friends to be held in Bath. The gathering will be held between 2-9 August on the campus of the University of Bath and will continue to explore the theme of ‘What it means to be a Quaker today’.
An engaging and informative promotional film was shown and Friends were reminded of some interesting facts relating to Quaker concerns. Bath was where the hugely successful cycling lobby organisation Sustrans (sustainable transport) was founded and where the first farmers market began. Both ventures have Quaker connections.
Friends were told that Bath 2014 will be ‘a place where we can explore the Quaker way and of how it can be expressed in actions’. Many of the cultural, leisure and heritage attractions of the area, from the Roman baths to the canal network, were also highlighted.
