A Coventry Quaker has been given an award for her services to the community.  Anne Burkett, the Quaker representative in the Coventry Inter Faith Network, recently received an invitation, together with other members of Coventry Meeting, to attend the one hundredth anniversary celebration of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.

William Waddilove, of Coventry Meeting, said: ‘Much to Anne’s astonishment they decided to award her a certificate for her services to the community.’ The award was presented to Anne by the deputy lord mayor of Coventry, councillor Gary Crookes.

There are some 170 million Ahmadiyya Muslims worldwide. They promote peace and goodwill to all under the slogan ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’. The sect was founded in 1889 and has had an untroubled presence in the UK since 1913.

Warmest congratulations to Anne on her award, which I know is richly deserved.
