Assisted dying – towards a Quaker view?

When we joined Leeds Area Meeting’s End of Life Care working party just over a year ago little did we think that the work of the group would coincide with such an increase of public interest in the issue of assisted dying. It is hoped that Charles Falconer’s Bill will have its second reading in the House of Lords before the summer recess. Furthermore, there have been a number of high profile cases and announcements in the media: the most recent being the pact of chat show hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan to assist each other to die if needs be – regardless of any legal consequences.
