Apology for JRCT from national newspaper
The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust has received an apology from The Daly Mail
The Daily Mail has apologised to the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) for referring to it as a ‘pro-terrorist charity’.
The reference was made in a 27 May article about a referendum poster produced by Operation Black Vote, which works to encourage African British and Asian British communities to become politically involved.
The newspaper acknowledged that JRCT ‘does not support or fund terrorism’, and that, while it does fund Operation Black Vote, the trust ‘had no prior knowledge of the advert and did not fund it’.
