Alternatives to military spending: the votes are in
Thirty-seven per cent of voters opted for education and healthcare
Over 1,000 people voted online last week in the Global Campaign on Military Spending UK’s annual bid to see how the public would like its money spent.
Participants were asked to choose between four areas to which they would prefer to allocate the UK’s annual £45 billion military budget. They allocated thirty-seven per cent of it to education and healthcare and thirty-one per cent to tackling climate change. International cooperation received twenty-seven per cent of the vote, while arms and military intervention accounted for five per cent.
Global Day of Action on Military Spending events also took place in Meetings around Britain, including Dorchester, Keighley and Wimbourne.
