Advocacy post in Scotland
New post to be created
Friends in Scotland will link with Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) in helping Quakers play a more effective advocacy role in the country.
The decision to establish a part time position to do this work, particularly with the Scottish parliament, was made earlier this year.
At the recent General Meeting of Scottish Friends held at St Andrews it was agreed ‘that the most appropriate model for such a development was for the post to be a BYM appointment, and for the appointee to be a full member of the Britain Yearly Meeting team headed by Jane Dawson.’
One of the key priorities for the advocacy work, initially, will be the issue of Trident missiles.
