Action on education?

David Day reflects on the recent education conference at Woodbrooke and selects some recommendations made for action at a local level

What can we say? What can we do? These two challenges were posed at the start of the Quaker Values in Education conference in August. The ‘Woodbrooke threshings’ was a remarkable experience that has produced much discernment. This discernment was shaped into not only the statement ‘Every person is precious – a foundation for Quaker action on education’ but also into seventy-nine suggestions and comments calling for action. Many suggestions are rooted in responses that could be made at a Local Meeting level. A selection is offered here.
