The wind from the east blows wild,
And so I know
I am alive;
Despite the freezing snow.

Snowdrops abound.
Beneath each tree a clump
Linked to the cold,
So white, so slim, so fine.

Each small flower a blessing.
Offered as a prayer
To our universe.
So wild and free.

As in amidst this huge enormity –
A tiny flower
Is just
Allowed to be.
