A significant moment

Kelvin Beer-Jones reflects on the recent debate in the Houses of Commons and Lords on the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill

My partner Clive and I sat and watched on television the entire second and third readings of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill as it passed through the House of Commons. The following week we watched the second reading in the House of Lords. We were deeply impressed by the quality and tone of the speeches made in both Houses.  The tenor of the debates recognised that this was a deeply significant and tender moment and one that will, almost certainly, become an important moment in our history.
