Thought for the Week: Silence

'Silence' by Gordon Yapp

Does not exist in the past
nor in the future. Only
in the now, this moment
in time, the mindfulness
of now.

Like time standing still,
stopping the clock,
holding breath;
under time
lives silence.

Silence standing
on edge, poised,
precious, pregnant,
frail, fragile, fugitive,
spiritually dimensioned.

In this distilled silence
there is a sense of
connection with the
still small voice,
‘Be still and know’.

Silence
and witness,
are two pillars
of Quaker
spirituality.
