Thought for the Week: Signs of hope

Craig Barnett reflects on signs of hope

When our daughter Moya was born we held a ‘welcoming’ celebration for her at home, reading out this passage from the prophet Isaiah:

‘See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.’ (Isaiah 43:19)

For us, the birth of our first child was a sign of hope for the future, simply because her life was ‘a new thing’ – filled with utterly unpredictable potential for bringing beauty and joy and healing into the world.
