The Jesuit Philip Endean began the talk, which I referred to last week, with the words: ‘I feel a fraud coming to talk about the spirituality of Ignatius. I can’t. What I can do is talk about aspects of his life, hoping something of his spirituality creeps out.’ It did. However, it is one thing to try to talk about the spirituality of someone else’s life – another to talk about one’s own.
