We should celebrate the first same sex weddings, but we need to look beyond our own noses. While the campaign for equal love has made progress in the West and Latin America, around the world there is a savage backlash. This is fuelled by those claiming to speak for the divine love, mercy and compassion at the heart of the world’s Abrahamic religions. Men and women of extraordinary bravery continue to speak and campaign in countries under threat of imprisonment, vigilante shootings, rape and beatings.
