The green theme continued when Paul Parker, recording clerk, and Oliver Robertson, head of worship and witness, gave their reflections on having been in Glasgow for the COP26 climate conference. It had been a ‘huge privilege and a heavy responsibility’ to be there, said Paul. Quakers were ‘important players’ in this area, but it was clear that we were ‘more powerful when we work in partnership’. He had spent time connecting with other faith communities, remembering a vigil with prayers from the nine global faith strands. Paul felt the ‘great tide’ of those prayers, and found himself in floods of tears. It had been about much more than carbon costing, he said.
