From self assessment to GM crops

Self assessment

The end of January saw the tax self assessment deadline. Perhaps the end of April could be a good time for Quakers to have completed their self and corporate testimony assessments.

It might involve asking searching questions such as the following:

Did I/we make better use of the earth’s resources in the last twelve months? Did I/we make more authentic attempts to live simply over the last year? Did I/we make a stand for truth and equality in my/our locality and the wider community in the last twelve months? Did I/we make a positive stand for Quaker values as expressed in our Quaker testimonies in the last year?

The testimonies are living expressions of what it is to be and do Quaker. Perhaps, by an annual self and corporate assessment, we will keep the testimonies alive and dynamic.
