From drone warfare to introductions

Drone warfare

Last March the Friend, helpfully, published my letter about ‘stopping drones’ and how a healing ministry and/or ‘concern’ might be remedies (2 March 2012).

There was an encouraging response from readers, both with further printed letters, and private ones to me. Thank you.

Then, the five Local Meetings in our Area followed up all the suggestions about petitioning, supporting the relevant Quaker organisations and other charities, writing to MPs and so on. We also monitored the growing number of letters in national newspapers and the many programmes on radio and TV.

Meanwhile, I presented a Concern to Blackheath, my Local Meeting. Finally, in December 2012 following the process set out in Quaker faith & practice 13.05, of testing and discernment, this Concern has been sent by South East London Area Meeting to Meeting for Sufferings.

We are very much hoping that this will result in effective advocacy to government ministers resulting in drones being stopped; or whatever is the Will of the Holy Spirit.

I would like to thank all those who have been holding this situation in the Light during the last nine months. Please continue to uphold the Concern for a peaceful solution. Please do all you can, individually and collectively, to stop these terrible weapons and the slaughter they are causing. Thank you.
