Just telling people that they should be doing more about the environment isn't really enough.
People are being told that they need to stop doing this and stop doing that and that all doom will take place if they don't. There's not much of a vision of a positive future coming out and I think we need that and could do with that in our articles and letters to engage people and get them buying into it. The Quakers will be a willing audience.
To compare to the slavery issue. When the Quakers who led the campaign got involved, it wasn't like all the Quakers in Britain got involved right away. Its easy later for all Quakers to take the credit but this isn't a particularly accurate portrayal. It was a few people led by a really strong conviction from God who got things going. And they had a really big vision that others could buy into – freedom for all mankind. At present our prophets are sharing the doom and gloom but until they can give us the vision for a positive future the global change movement will continue to stall.
