Poem: The garden
'No longer paradise...'
No longer paradise,
fruit tree and Father gone;
she asks,
‘where have you taken him?’
Garden of betrayals and arrests,
invading soldiers kill at will;
she asks,
‘where have you taken him?’
Fertile soil long-lost to bombs,
flowers, olives, herbs all blown away;
she asks,
‘where have you taken him?’
Land seized and water cut,
goats shot from far-off balconies;
she asks,
‘where have you taken him?’
Grandchildren dead, a missing son,
husband arrested, lost;
she asks,
‘where have you taken him?’
